Steps on replacing your Dell Inspiron Laptop’s Heat Sink and Fan

At least one of our laptop’s heat sink or fan that is not function can cause further damage to our laptop particularly the random access memory or RAM, and these damages will surely affect our business or jobs dramatically and nobody would want that to happen. For Dell Inspiron laptop owners, particularly the Dell Inspiron 1100 model, a few of the simple steps in replacing your laptop’s fan or heat sink are mentioned below.

First, you need to label the screws especially if you have a lot. Then you will need a slotted screwdriver and a Phillips head as well. You may also need to have a needle-nosed plier for an easy ZIF CPU socket unlocking.

Now, to start opening your laptop all the way, you have to bend your laptop screen all the way back in order for the plate to come up easily. You will get to notice four or five plastic slots to pop out as you open going from right to left.

After you have pull up the plate, you will see four black screws and these must be removed in order to pull up the keyboard. You can have them pointed with your screwdrivers, but rest assured the screws are very visible.

One must keep in mind that the keyboard must kept attached that is why, it is important that one must take extra care of it as they pull it out from its place. After you have removed the keyboard, you will see on the right side of your laptop a metal cover that serves as the protection of the heat sink, CPU, and other important parts of your laptop. All you have to do is to remove this metal cover by removing the single screw it has in order for you to get into your laptop’s heat sink and fan.

After removing the metal cover, you must now see your laptop’s heat sink and fan assembly, and probably some dust and dirt. You will then see four screws on the heat sink and fan. First thing first, unlock the ZIF CPU socket using your needle-nosed pliers. After you have successfully unlocked the ZIF CPU socket, it is now safe to pullout your laptop’s fan and heat sink.

Not that you have successfully pullout the defective fan and heat sink of your laptop, it is now time for you to install your newly purchased set of heat sink and fan.

We all hope that the abovementioned steps will help you fix your defective laptop fan and heat sink and will eventually bring your laptop back to its normal function.

However, it is still best advised though that one must check a personal technician first before doing the abovementioned steps on his or her own. One must note that if they happen to get into their laptop mistakenly, it can cause their laptop to crash down. After checking with a technician, if one thinks that they can already fix their laptop, it can now be the right time for them to get into their laptop to fix.
